Vice President wishes happy Tet to all Vietnamese women

Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan on January 30 sent happy Tet wishes to all Vietnamese women through their local Women’s Union Committees.

During her visit to the union headquarters in Hanoi, the Vice President said the Government always appreciates important role of the women’s union in implementing national campaigns to reduce poverty and build up social awareness.

Vietnamese women are now playing an increasingly essential role in the State apparatus, in decision-making and in the realization of State and Party policies, the Vice President said.

However, she said there remain certain weaknesses in providing vocational training for women, the low percentage of women in leadership, as well as other issues related to food safety and hygiene and violence against children.

Vietnam Women’s Union chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa briefed the Vice President on the union’s activities during the past year and their future plans.

The union has presented Tet gifts to women and border soldiers in 15 cities and provinces. For Women’s Day in March, the union will organize meetings and hold a walk entitled “Vietnamese women say no to unsafe food”.
