VN-Index tops 843

VietNamNet Bridge - Positive business results reported by many listed companies today helped the VN-Index gain a whooping 31.49 points to close at 843.1 with 145 gaining shares, 116 of which rose limit up.

Total buying volume on the southern bourse enjoyed a sharp surge as investors snatched up 95 percent of sell orders.

Those unlikely to reach ceiling prices like Sacombank (STB), Phu My Fertilizer and Chemicals (DPM) and Saigon Securities (SSI) also enjoyed massive transactions with total turnovers reaching 1.76 million, 1.47 million and 694,000 shares respectively.

On the whole, total turnovers topped 12.61 million worth VND1,005 billion (US$62.8 million), a three-month high.

Up north in Ha Noi, the HASTC-Index rose 18.07 points or 6.49 percent to close at 296.67.

Total trading volume was 6.45 million shares worth VND552.04 billion (US$34.5 million), up 60 percent over yesterday and 150 percent compared to two days ago.

Such bullish sentiment is attributed to Government efforts in boosting the market including easing up on securities-mortgaged loaning, pumping more Viet Nam dongs and allowing foreign investors to buy shares in their foreign currencies.
